What is LINKS to Language?

Very basically, LINKS to Language is about getting ready to learn.

The LINKS to Language curriculum is designed for the "difficult to reach, difficult to teach" population.  LINKS is targeted toward children diagnosed as language disordered/delayed, autism spectrum disorder and/or Childhood Apraxia of Speech.  LINKS is appropriate for children with chronological ages of 2 1/2 to 6 years and a mental age of at least 12 months.

LINKS is about:

bullet

Instructional control, which is the indispensable prerequisite for children to learn

bullet

Pre-linguistic skills, i.e. shared focus, reciprocal interaction, quality of responses; memory and sequencing skills, and learning to calmly face and conquer cognitive challenges to experience the power of mastery

bullet

Receptive language, to establish and expand language processing skills through carefully graded receptive language tasks.
